The seasonal review: keep, pause or release

The Sunday review keeps a week honest. Once a season, a longer look keeps your whole list honest. Goals that were true in spring can be quietly out of date by autumn, and carrying them costs attention.

Set aside an hour. Take each horizon and give it exactly one of three labels.

  • Keep. You still want this, and you can name the next step without effort.
  • Pause. You still want it, but not this season. Write down the month you will look again.
  • Release. You wanted it once. Thank it, archive it, and stop paying for it in guilt.

Releasing a goal is not failure. It is how you protect the ones you kept. Most people find that two or three active horizons is plenty for one season.
